More than 100 nurses and support staff at Grace Hospital in Tauranga walked off the job for four hours on Wednesday. The workers, including members of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation, are protesting pay offers they say do not meet rising household costs. This is believed to be the first strike in the hospital's history.
