Tailasa Pongia, 20, has been sentenced to 18 years' imprisonment for the August 2025 murder of 19-year-old Greig Temarama-Abela in Ōtara. A judge declined a life sentence, citing Pongia's youth and impulsivity. He must serve nine years before being eligible for parole.
