Two people were hospitalised with serious injuries following an attack at an Avondale home in the early hours of Tuesday. The incident occurred at an address on Ahiriri Avenue at approximately 3.20am while a group was socialising. Two unknown men approached the property and a physical altercation took place.
During the altercation, two people were wounded by a weapon carried by one of the men. The two men then attempted to steal items from the house but were unsuccessful. The offenders fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived.
Police are currently searching for those responsible. Officers wearing boiler suits were observed inspecting the garage of the home shortly after the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 105 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
