Wellington man arrested in FBI cryptocurrency laundering investigation

A man from Wellington was arrested in Auckland as part of an FBI investigation into an alleged US$265 million (NZ$450m) cryptocurrency fraud ring. Police allege the group manipulated seven victims between March and August 2024 to steal funds for luxury purchases. The man appeared in the Auckland District Court on Friday.
