Napier City Council will trial 24/7 CCTV monitoring following concerns from inner-city retailers. Although a safety patrol service was introduced three years ago, crime in the city has increased by 12% over the last two years. Retailers noted that most crime occurs at night when cameras are currently unmonitored.
