Vandals have caused $80,000 worth of damage to public toilet facilities in Ōtaki over a single month. The Kāpiti Coast District Council warned that rising repair costs may force the council to scale back maintenance or close some facilities. Mayor Janet Holborow stated that the community cannot sustain these costs.
