MetService has issued a 15-hour heavy rain watch for northern and eastern Northland, northern Auckland and Great Barrier Island. Forecasts include periods of heavy rain and localised downpours. A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for the Far North due to the possibility of flash flooding.
