Fire and Emergency New Zealand has implemented a month-long ban on private fireworks in the Coromandel, Central Otago, Lakes, and Upper Waitaki areas. The restrictions aim to prevent fires during the dry season. In the Coromandel, the ban runs until 30 January, while other areas face restrictions starting Christmas Eve.
