Man charged after stolen car crash leaves driver critically injured

A 42-year-old man has been charged with dangerous driving causing injury and driving while disqualified following a crash on State Highway 2 near Pōkeno. The incident occurred Saturday afternoon when the driver of a stolen vehicle swerved to avoid road spikes and collided with an oncoming car. The injured driver remains in hospital in stable condition.
