Phillip Mant has pleaded guilty to kidnapping and bomb threat charges following a 15-hour hostage standoff in Nelson South in August 2024. The incident, involving a sawn-off rifle and homemade explosives, caused the lockdown of local schools and a hospital. Mant remains in custody until his sentencing in July.
