Two people were taken to hospital in serious condition after a car collided with a truck and trailer transporting a house. The accident occurred on the Dairy Flat Highway in Auckland during the early hours of Friday.
Emergency services were notified of the crash near Lucas Heights, at the back of Albany, at approximately 2.12am or 2.15am. Fire and Emergency crews used rescue equipment to extricate two people who were trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
A third person involved in the collision sustained minor injuries. While the car was wrecked, police reported that the house sustained only minor damage.
The highway remained blocked for several hours while the scene was cleared. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are currently underway.
