Canterbury faces extreme winds and power outages

A rare red level strong wind warning is in effect for much of Canterbury, with gusts reaching up to 150km/h. Power outages have been reported in parts of the central and lower South Island. Emergency Management Canterbury has urged residents to remain vigilant as extreme weather continues.
