Fast-tracked Waipiro marina project faces opposition from iwi and locals

Minister of Infrastructure Chris Bishop has approved the Waipiro Marina Project to progress to the next stage. The proposed Bay of Islands development would provide berths for 200 to 250 vessels, including 14 superyachts. Local iwi and hapū, including Ngāti Kuta, Patukeha and Ngāti Hine, are opposing the fast-tracked proposal.
