Far North District Council voted 7-3 to remove councillor Davina Smolders from the Te Kuaka Māori strategic relationships committee during a meeting in Kaikohe. The decision follows a complaint from an iwi and comes five months after Smolders was elected. Smolders stated the move does not remove her mandate to scrutinise the council.
