Traffic delays expected during Sir Tumu Te Heuheu tangihanga

Motorists travelling near Taupō and Tūrangi should expect delays on SH1 and SH41 over the next five days. These delays are due to the tangihanga of Ngāti Tūwharetoa paramount chief Sir Tumu Te Heuheu. Public proceedings are scheduled to begin this Friday at Tapeka Marae in Waihī.
