Porirua man sentenced to prison for poaching 619 pāua

Ruteru Sufia, 63, has been sentenced in the Porirua District Court to 2.5 years in jail for poaching 619 pāua. Ministry of Primary Industries officers discovered the shellfish in his home during a 2022 raid. He was also banned from fishing for three years.
