Sections of State Highway 8 and State Highway 80 in the Mackenzie Country reopened on Sunday morning after being closed due to snow and ice. While snow is expected to fall as low as 700m in Canterbury on Monday, a wet weather system is forecast to bring showers to most of the South Island later this week.
