Torrential rain has triggered widespread flooding and slips, closing sections of State Highways 3, 4, 30, 31, and 43. In the Awakino Gorge, police report that some vehicles are trapped on State Highway 3. The weather has left some communities cut off and motorists urged to drive with caution.
