A coroner has determined that excessive speed and riding without a helmet contributed to the death of 19-year-old Jack Alexander MacConnell. MacConnell crashed into a parked logging truck on Kennedy Road in Napier in January 2024. CCTV footage showed him travelling between 124km/h and 156km/h before the collision.
