Tairāwhiti hapū Ngāti Oneone has been protesting at Te Pā Eketū Shed on Hirini Street for over six weeks. Led by chairwoman Charlotte Gibson, the group is seeking the return of their ancestral lands. An online petition supporting the movement has gathered more than 1,950 signatures.
