Bryson Clark was fined $130,000 in the Gore District Court after discharging farm effluent and leachate into the Low Burn Stream. The contamination caused the deaths of thousands of eels in a tributary of the Mataura River. Environment Southland says the ecological damage could take up to 10 years to recover.
