Waikato District Council has apologised for installing speed-cutting chicanes in Tamahere without community consultation. Residents claim the new layout is a crash hazard during fog or sun strike. While some welcomed the trial, police noted that some motorists have begun speeding or using the wrong lane to bypass the chicanes.
