Rio Tinto to invest $50m in Tiwai Point waste facility

New Zealand Aluminium Smelters will spend $50 million on a new facility at Tiwai Point to process spent cell liner. Construction is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026 and is projected to create 26 jobs.
