New powers granted to police and courts to enforce firearm bans

The government is expanding powers for police and courts to prevent gangs and high-risk offenders from accessing firearms. From Sunday, police will have new search powers to check compliance with Firearms Prohibition Orders, while courts gain the ability to modify or expand these orders.
