Two 15-year-olds were rescued on Sunday after one was swept downstream by the Ngatiawa River while attempting to cross it. The teenagers were returning from an overnight hike to Kapakapanui Hut when the rising river caused trouble. Police say the use of a personal locator beacon assisted in their rescue.
