Man arrested after allegedly throwing pāua into sea during police check

A 41-year-old man was arrested at Blackhead Beach in Central Hawke’s Bay after allegedly dumping his pāua catch into the ocean during a routine fisheries inspection. Police stopped the man's vehicle within a marine reserve on Tuesday and subsequently discovered a pistol and ammunition.
