Principals from low-income communities are calling to scrap new online NCEA reading, writing and maths tests. They warn the assessments are causing high failure rates, which could leave many Māori and Pacific school-leavers without qualifications. Students must pass these tests or earn extra credits to receive NCEA by the end of 2027.
