Aurora visible across large parts of New Zealand

South Island residents have reportedly witnessed an aurora, with the phenomenon also seen as far north as Auckland. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration suggests the event could become a significant geomagnetic storm, with visibility expected across much of the country.
