Christchurch youth care facility Te Oranga to reopen next year

The Te Oranga youth care and protection facility in Christchurch will reopen next year. The facility closed in 2021 following the leak of a video showing staff placing a young person in a headlock. Minister for Children Karen Chhour attributed the previous closure to staffing issues and underinvestment.
