Severe wind and rain warnings issued for South Island

MetService has issued weather warnings for heavy rain and severe gales across much of the South Island and lower North Island. Waka Kotahi has also released an area warning for State Highway 7 between Waipara and Springs Junction due to forecast wind gusts of up to 120kph.
