A 14-year-old boy told the Dunedin High Court he was swinging a knife wildly to drive a victim away during a confrontation last May. The defendant, who has name suppression, claims he did not intend to hurt 16-year-old Enere Taana-McLaren. The Crown argues the teenager chose to confront the victim after being called names.
