The White Ferns have announced a 15-player squad for a three-match T20I series against Australia at North Sydney Oval this month. Melie Kerr will remain captain, while batting coach Dean Brownlie will serve as interim head coach following the departure of Ben Sawyer. Sawyer left his role in mid-September after his contract was not renewed following a review of the New Zealand Cricket women’s high-performance structure.NZ HeraldStuff

The squad features the return of four players: Eden Carson, Molly Penfold, Hannah Rowe, and Bella James. Carson returns to the side after being sidelined since last December due to elbow surgery. Penfold and Rowe are expected to bolster the pace attack following the retirements of Sophie Devine and Lea Tahuhu.NZ HeraldStuffOtago Daily Times

The team is also missing wicketkeeper Izzy Gaze, who is undergoing surgery for a thumb injury and aims to return in the new year. Polly Inglis has been named to the squad to replace Gaze. The departure of Suzie Bates has also created an opportunity for James to play near the top of the batting order.NZ HeraldStuff

The tour begins with a warm-up match against a Governor-General’s XI on 15 October. This will be followed by three T20Is on 18, 20, and 22 October. New Zealand Cricket has stated that additional coaching support for the series will be announced this week.NZ HeraldStuff
