A US class action settlement involving Anthropic AI will see the company pay up to US$2.6 billion. Waikato author Catherine Chidgey is among those included after books were allegedly downloaded illegally to train a chatbot. While some authors may receive US$3,000 per title, many others may not receive compensation.
