Lower Hutt woman's death caused by unrelated medical condition

A judge at the Hutt Valley District Court heard that 53-year-old Lillian Wharton died from pancreatitis. Although she died in hospital a few days after being assaulted while intoxicated, the court acknowledged the assaults were not the cause of her death.
