Electric Avenue organisers have announced 4000 additional weekend passes for the 2027 festival, which will be available only to residents of Christchurch City, Selwyn, and Waimakariri districts. The new tickets are not yet on sale, and organisers will shortly announce the release date and eligibility requirements. Because current ticketing platforms cannot verify residency, organisers are considering an in-person sale to ensure the passes go to locals.![]()

The expansion increases the festival's daily capacity from 46,000 to 50,000 people. This growth follows an agreement with the Christchurch City Council and Hagley Golf Club to temporarily use an adjoining fairway. Moving infrastructure, such as a substantial new toilet area, onto the golf course land will free up space for fans within the main Hagley Park site.![]()

The additional tickets follow a rapid sell-out last month, where 15,000 final-release tickets were snapped up almost instantly. Some reports indicate that 58,674 fans attempted to buy these tickets, while others state 70,000 people were registered to receive them. Following the sale, some tickets were advertised on secondary markets for up to quadruple their original price.![]()
