House in Northcote gutted by fire on Tuesday afternoon

A single-storey home in Christchurch's Northcote suburb was badly damaged by fire on Tuesday. Emergency services were alerted shortly after 1pm, and all residents were accounted for. A neighbour and her teenagers reportedly assisted a mother in rescuing a baby and a dog from the building.
