Person dies after being caught in rip at Piha Beach

A swimmer has died at Auckland's Piha Beach after being caught in a rip current on Tuesday afternoon. Police were notified that the person was pulled from the water just after 3.30pm. Despite receiving medical attention, the individual died near the scene and the death will be referred to the coroner.
