Homicide investigation launched after 8-year-old boy dies in Whakatāne

Police have launched a homicide investigation following the death of an eight-year-old boy in Whakatāne. A 25-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with assault in relation to the incident. She appeared in Whakatāne District Court on Saturday and is due to reappear next Wednesday.
