New Zealand's unemployment rate increased to 4.8% in the three months ending in September, up from 4.6% in the previous quarter. This rise was lower than many economists and the Reserve Bank had anticipated. The figure is close to the 4.9% peak recorded during the Covid-19 pandemic in late 2020.
