Residents north of Blenheim have been asked to prepare for evacuation as heavy rain warnings are in place for the Marlborough region. Forecasts suggest the Wairau River could rise significantly by Friday morning. An orange heavy rain warning and strong wind watches are currently in effect for parts of the South and lower North Islands.
