Strong winds hit Wellington ahead of potential thunderstorms

Wellington has been hit by strong winds, with gusts exceeding 100kph recorded at Kelburn. MetService has issued an orange strong wind warning for the capital. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are also expected to impact parts of the North Island, particularly the eastern Bay of Plenty.
