Dutch national jailed for smuggling $1.6m of methamphetamine

A 69-year-old Dutch national has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison for attempting to smuggle methamphetamine through Auckland Airport. Customs officers intercepted 4.4kg of the drug, valued at approximately $1.6 million, hidden in the man's hand luggage in September 2024.
